Heironymous Brunschwig ( c . 1450-1512) New vollkom[m]en Distillierbüch . Edited by W.H. Ryff. Frankfurt am Main: the heirs of Christian Egenolph, 1597. 2° (278 x 185mm). Title printed in red and black. Gothic type. 342 woodcut illustrations including Egenolph device on Nn6r [Johnston Cleveland count], woodcut initials. (Variable, mainly light browning, occasional light spotting and staining.) Later vellum, yapp fore-edges (covers somewhat marked and cockled, ties worn with loss, minor worming on joints and lower cover). Brunschwig's classic botanical and pharmaceutical text, edited by the distinguished physician Walther Hermann Ryff ( fl . 1539-1562).
