HEMINGWAY, ERNEST. Autograph letter signed ("Ernest Hemingway") to Cyril Hume, Paris, 19 October 1929. 1 page, 4to, slightly wrinkled, with the original envelope addressed by Hemingway (defective) . Hemingway thanks Hume for his praise about (undoubtedly) A Farewell to Arms (which was published on 27 September): "Thank you so damned much for the letter. I can't tell you how fine it made me feel nor how happy that you liked the book. You were damned fine to write and I only wish you'd put some address on so I would know this would reach you..." Not in Letters , ed. C. Baker, and presumably unpublished.
