Original beige boards backed in green cloth, printed paper label, errata slip, (spine restored). FIRST EDITION PRESENTATION COPY inscribed on front endpaper by Mary Tagart. The first part relates Midshipman Heywood's adventures as an unwilling mutineer aboard the 'Bounty, 'his return to England from Tahiti in irons aboard 'Pandora,' shipwreck, trial, conviction and pardon. Appended with a list of charts by Heywood which James Horsburgh advertised as a proper accompaniment to the volume. Hill, p. 287. Ferguson 1597.
