HOMER (c.8th century B.C .). Opera , in Greek. Venice: Aldine Press, April 1524. 2 volumes, 8º (153 x 95mm). Woodcut title device in both volumes, and at end of volume II. (Vol.I lacks colophon, waterstaining at beginning of same vol. and severe staining in last few leaves, a few childish drawings in pencil in the same vol. headlines cut quite close with one or two cut into.) 18th-century tree sheep, gilt spines (a little worming in both spines). Provenance : indistinct stamp on title -- Aachen, convent of St. Stanislaus and of the Immaculate Conception (modern bookplates).
