HOOGHE, Romein de (1645-1708). Carte Maritime des Environs de Dieppe depuis Pont Asselane jusquest au Havre De Grace. Amsterdam: Pieter Mortier, 1693. Magnificent example of Romein de Hooghe's regional chart of Normandy, extending from Rouen to Abbeville, and centred on Dieppe. The elaborate engraving includes large inset views of Rouen and Dieppe surrounded by highly decorative borders. Koeman IV, M.Mor 5 E, chart 2. Single-sheet engraved map, richly coloured by a contemporary hand and heightened with gold, two inset views, one of Dieppe at top right, the other of Rouen bottom right supporting the elaborately engraved dedicatee's armorial cartouche, rhumb lines in sea meeting at compass rose, many ships, some engaged in battle, urban areas painted in red with gold points to their centres, 599 x 480mm (plate mark), 621 x 505mm (sheet).
