Scotin, wood-engraved royal arms on title, tailpiece (occasional light spotting, heavier in first quire, paper flaw into text in K2), contemporary red morocco gilt, fleur-de-lis border roll around fanfare-style pointillé plaque on sides with arms of Marie-Thérèse-Antoinette-Raphaële [Olivier 2525] at centre, ribbon design with fleur-de-lis in spine compartments, floral gilt pastedowns, gilt edges (neat repairs at extremities, minor scuffmarks repaired). Provenance : Marie-Thérèse-Antoinette-Raphaële, infanta of Spain (1726-46; binding) -- Jean Emile Dubois de Richmont (inscription on title verso recording 'Souvenir de mon père véneré...') -- Hans Furstenberg (booklabel) -- Otto Schäfer (cf. von Arnim, Europäische Einbandkunst , pp.110-111; sale Sotheby's 7 December 1995,lot 459). Marie-Thérèse-Antoinette-Raphaële, infanta of Spain, was the daughter of Philip V and his second wife, Elisabeth Farnese.
