Full-page anatomical man, 12 full-page metalcuts, one half-page metalcut and 29 smaller cuts, ILLUMINATED IN GOLD AND COLOURS BY A CONTEMPORARY HAND, multiple-piece ornamental and historiated metalcut border to each leaf except anatomical man, the border to the half-page Trinity cut on . A1r also coloured, liquid-gold initials and line-filler painted on alternate pink and blue ground, yellow capital strokes. (Somewhat rubbed, with some colouring flaking, several borders shaved, small holes in border of h1.) 19th-century foliate brocade binding within tortoiseshell covers, silver-gilt mounted and applied on front cover with cypher AIA, on back cover Madonna and Child, spine and corners each applied with shaped silver-gilt mounts with foliate scrolls on hatched grounds, applied with cabuchon garnets and opals, similarly decorated and applied clasp, patterned endpapers, gilt edges. Provenance : William Harcourt Hooper (bookplate) -- sold Sotheby's, 3 June 1946, lot 183, £26 to Foyle -- William Foyle (bookplate, sale Christie's, 11 July 2000, lot 190). 12 of 15 metalcuts of the Pigouchet-Vostre set 2; the cut of the Trinity appears to be a slightly smaller copy of the one belonging to Pigouchet-Vostre set 1. The verses at the foot of each calendar page serve as a mnemonic for the Feasts.
