(Title and preliminaries spotted.) Contemporary calf, spine with red morocco lettering-piece and gilt FFF stamp at foot (rubbed, particularly on spine, joints cracked, some neat repairs). Provenance : Francis Ferrand Foljambe (binding). FIRST ISSUE OF THIS SCARCE COLLECTED EDITION, without the 4 additional leaves signed *4 with the 'Two additional essays', Essay VI* and Essay XIV*, supplied in later issues. It includes Hume's most important philosophical works, An Enquiry concerning Human Understanding (1748), An Enquiry concerning the Principles of Morals (1751), and The Natural History of Religion (1757).
