Morges (Switzerland), 14. V. 1934. Large mourning margin. Envelope with stamp and postmarks. 4°. 1 page. In Polish to composer and pianist Alfred Gradstein (1904-1954) in Paris. Translation: [...affected by a serious shoulder condition throughout last year, I have not been able to work at all and for this reason my current resources are very limited. I am immensely sorry that I cannot help you to the extent that you need. I am sending only as much as I am able at present, in the hope that even such modest assistance, may be useful in the struggle against the disease of which I learn with great discomfort and sincere sympathy [...] Ignacy Jan Paderewski. Polish pianist, composer, philanthropist, orator, statesman and diplomat. Polish Prime Minister in 1919. This great virtuoso attracted enthusiastic crowds to his concerts, fascinated by his charisma, and led an extraordinary life guided by his love for his country and his desire to see it free.
