Carta Executoria de Hidalguia in favor of Francisco Rodriguez, incorporating an account of a suit in 1583 for restitution of property to Rodriguez with testimony of Rodriguez and the alcades. Villaescusa, Province of Salamanca, October 6, 1585. 38 leaves, 310 x 210 mm. 36 lines per page, ruled in red ink, written in dark brown ink in a calligraphic hand with decorative cadels, 28 illuminated gilt initials and panels up to 4 lines high, on blue and red grounds, one full page miniature (fol. 1v) of the dedicatee and his wife kneeling before the Virgin and Child, above a family coat of arms, with borders including flowers, fruit, and jewels. Original full limp vellum. Small portion of paint loss and smudging to miniature, vellum generally browned, else a nice example. Provenance: Ownership signature of Felipe Ortega [17th century?] to front endpaper; listed in Bond, Supplement to de Ricci's Census, formerly of University of California, Berkeley Library, p.2, no. 38.
