ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS -- BRÉVIAIRE GRIMANI de la bibliothèque de S. Marco à Venise. Réproduction photographique complète. Éd. p. S. de Vries & S. Morpurgo. Leiden/Amst., A.W. Sijthoff/Scheltema & Holkema, (1903-10). 1 text-vol. (8, 187, 49 pp.) and 9 plate-vols. w. tog. 1581 plates w. tissue guards (of which 300 in col., rest mainly double-sided). Fol. Bound in fine cont. h. mor. extra w. raised bands, dec. gilt backs and gilt coat of arms on all front sides depicting lion with book: "Pax tibi Marce evangelis meus". (Ex libr. copies w. tickets on spines, stamps on ti. & on a few plates, w. smoke odour). estimate EUR 1.400 ¶ Facsimile of the Breviarium Grimani, most probably manufactured at the early beginning of the 16th century. The greatest part of the miniatures are attributed to Netherlandish masters as Alexander and Simon Bening Gerard Horebout and Livinus van Laethem. - Complete set.
