IMPORTANT AND RARE COLLECTION OF FORTY GOLD-MOUNTED MINIATURE DRAWINGS EXECUTED BY GRAND DUCHESS MARIA FEODOROVNA, WIFE OF TSAREVICH PAUL (LATER TSAR PAUL I) The first set of twenty-two framed and bearing the original French presentation inscription, "Les boutons sont presentes a la plus chere des Meres par celle qui est a ses pieds en vous suppliant d'agreer ses voeux et ses homages pour la journee d'aujourd' hui. Le 25 Juin 1790. Marie" "These buttons are given to the dearest of mothers (Catherine the Great) by her who is at her feet begging her to accept her (best) wishes and homage for the day (we are spending together) today. the 25th of june 1790. Marie" The drawings, mounted as buttons, depict the following from left to right: 1. Ruins in the manner of Jacques de la Joue (1687-1761) in the park Montbeliard, France, where Grand Duchess Maria Feodorovna, wife of Paul I, spent her youth. 2. As above. 3.
