US$2,211,000
Beschreibung:

Important Natural Pearl Necklace, composed of forty-five round to roundish drilled white to light cream pearls, partly with rose and green overtones, pearls graduating in size from approx. 6.85 to 12.80 mm. Note: Accompanied by SSEF test report no. 82544, dated October 26, 2015, stating that the pearls are natural, and that the analyzed properties confirm the authenticity of these saltwater natural pearls. In addition, an appendix letter that reads "Exceptional Pearl Strand The natural pearl strand descibed in Test Report No. 82554 from the Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits spectial mention and appreciation. The described pearl strand contains 45 natural pearls of partly remarkable size (diameter up to 12.80 mm approximately). These pearls have been carefully selected and exhibit a fine and beautifully matching pearl lustre in combination with an attractive colour subtly ranging from white to light cream. In addition to these qualitiesa, part of these pearls shows rose and green overtones, poetically also referred to as the 'orient of pearls'.These overtones are an iridescence effect caused on the surface of pearls and contribute greatly to the beauty of these pearls. The combination of well-balanced trace elements found in these natural pearls are characteristic for saltwater pearls. Assembling a matching selection of natural pearls of this size and quality is very rare and exceptional." Provenance: From the collection of a prominent British American family. According to family oral history, this necklace was purchased in the 1880s or 1890s by the family patriarch, a successful banker who maintained residences in the United States, Great Britain, and France. Please Note: Only bidders who have preregistered with our accounting department will be eligible to bid on Lot 493. A deposit may be required.
