INDIA] SOLVYNS, FRANTS BALTASAR. A Collection of Two Hundred and Fifty Coloured Etchings: Descriptive of the Manners, Customs and Dresses of the Hindoos . Calcutta: 1796 [1799]. 20th century fabrikoid, the plates on original mounts. 16 1/4 x 12 1/2 inches (42 x 31 cm); a total of 227 plates in all, several folding [of 250 issued], most with slips (possibly later] identifying plate number and subject affixed, some lightly hand-colored. Some plates with marginal defects entering image, occasional worming, fraying to some mounts, lacking the text but with the section titles, sold as a collection of plates not subject to return. A substantial fragment (of a work often found in fragmentary form) with the remarkable etched plates by Solvyns of Hindu costume. Abbey Travel 421; Colas 2763-64; Shaw 348. C
