(Islamic & Indian Art, 22nd July 2020) THREE BIDRI SILVER-INLAID VESSELS Bidar, Central India, mid to late 19th century THREE BIDRI SILVER-INLAID VESSELS Bidar, Central India, mid to late 19th century Comprising a vase of compressed pyriform shape, resting on a gently splayed circular foot, rising to a tall tapering neck with a flared mouth, the body inlaid with silver decoration in the form of stylised rosette roundels decreasing in size from the base to the shoulders, framed within palmettes and fretwork bands, drop-shaped design to the mouth, 23.5cm high; a smaller vase of bulbous pyriform shape, resting on a splayed foot, with a narrow ringed neck and flared mouth, the central band on the body decorated with paisley motifs on spotted ground, framed within concentric bands of vegetal scrolls, fretworks and stylised lotus flowers, 16.5cm high; and a hemispherical bowl, with a short splayed foot, the silver-inlaid exterior decoration consisting of lush rosette bouquets, framed within palmette bands, to the interior a central flower head, 13cm diam. and 6cm high.
