The first Tintin strip was printed in 1929 in the Belgian newspaper, Le XXe Siecle (the 20th Century) and was titled, Tintin in the land of the Soviets. The character became a massive success and was adored in countries throughout the world, eventually having his adventures translated into more than 50 languages. Stephen Spielberg also made a live action film in 2011. Herge worked on the stories for the character until his death in 1983.
