ISLAMIC -- A GROUP OF THIRTEEN ARABIC AND PERSIAN MANUSCRIPTS (16th-20th century), comprising an Arabic text on cream paper, 218ff written in black sepia with important phrases in red, brown tooled morocco binding with red medallion, North Africa, 18th century (220 x 156 mm); an Arabic text on cream paper, 80ff with 9ll of black sepia maghribi within red border, with red vocalization, yellow marginal roundels, brown tooled morocco binding with blue medallion, North Africa, 19th century; An Arabic text on cream paper, 258ff with 17ll of black sepia maghribi within red border, with red, green and yellow detail, marginal roundels, red tooled morocco binding with blue medallion; An Arabic text on cream paper, 174ff, with some words highlighted in red, in a red morocco binding with gilt decoration and green medallion, possibly North Africa, 19th century; a compilation of five Arabic texts, 209ff, one written in a very fine naskh, in brown morocco stamped binding, possibly Syria, 16th/17th century; an incomplete Qur'an on cream paper, approx. 200ff of black naskh, with notes indicating it was captured from a boat near Madagascar, brown tooled morocco binding, probably Syria, 17th century; an Arabic text on cream paper, 36ff with 7ll of black thuluth within a red border, in brown tooled morocco binding with stamped inscription, Iran, possibly 17th century; a Persian manuscript on coloured paper, 189ff written in black nastaliq within a gold border, gold roundels between verses, marginal notes, in a red morocco binding with gilt tooling, Qajar Iran, 19th century; two Ottoman qur'ans on cream paper, written in black naskh with gold decoration, Turkey, 18th century; two printed Arabic qur'ans, probably Turkey, early 20th century; and a Persian printed school text, Iran, 20th century.
