Italian Renaissance Walnut Cassone 16th Century The hinged rectangular top opening to a well, the front carved with foliate scrolls centering a cartouche with arms, possibly those of the Miniscalchi family, of a burning bramble surrounded by three bands of ivy, supported by female figures, the flanking stiles with putti heads, raised on paw feet. Height 23 1/2 inches (50.9 cm), width 70 inches (1.77 m), depth 25 inches, (60.3m). The Palazzo Miniscalchi, a late Gothic palace on the via San Mammaso, the design attributed to Angelo di Giavonni, now houses the Fondazione Museo Miniscalchi-Erizzo, inauguarated in 1990. C
