Italian School, 17th Century Style The Visitation Unsigned. Black and white chalk on brown laid paper, 10 x 7 1/4 in. (25.4 x 18.5 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Small losses to c.l. edge, pale stain to l.l. edge, glue stains to the corners of the reverse. N.B. It has been suggested that this drawing may be a counterproof, in light of the faintness of the image and the minimal amount of chalk on the paper. The paper has a lot of fiber, suggesting that it is 18th century or earlier.
