Italo/Flemish School Mid-15th Century MADONNA AND CHILD AND THE CRUCIFIXION: TWO LEAVES FROM A TRIPTYCH Mid-15th Century MADONNA AND CHILD AND THE CRUCIFIXION: TWO LEAVES FROM A TRIPTYCH Each tempera on gold ground panel Each 28 1/4 x 15 inches (71.7 x 38 cm) Each with an integrated gilded Gothic frame with small painted inserts of saints and traces of the donor's initials on the reverse. Estates of Mary Livingston Ripley and S. Dillon Ri
Losses from woodworm along edges and corners. Vertical splits in wood: the Crucifixion panel 5 inches from center lower edge and 1 1/2 inch from center top edge. Madonna and Child 3 inches from center lower edge, a split in upper center of panel and two 1 1/2 inches from the upper edge. Heavy damages to the linen laid down to the reverse with the Donor's initials. Restorations in the drapery and background, small losses throughout.
