Reichardt, Johann Friedrich Manuscript volume of numbers from his opera Andromeda comprising, in at least two scribal hands, keyboard arrangements of the overture, part of the 'Opferscene', in 3/8, and two gavottes ("Sinfonia aus der Oper Andromeda...Gavotte...Gavotte 2"), and reduced scores of six vocal numbers (1. "Andromeda Sola...Sommi Dei!"; 2. "Aria...Andromeda...Viva, del caro oggetto"; 3. "Aria...Perseo...Tu asciuga quel ciglio"; 4. "Rondo...Perseo...Deh! soccori, o Padre il figlio"; 5. "Rondo...Andromeda...Bel morir soave pene"; 6. "Aria di Fineo...Son quella fera che perde i figli"), notated in brown ink on up to 8 two-stave systems per page, with a few possibly autograph (?) markings (e.g. the tempo marking and the name "Andromeda" at the beginning of "Viva, del caro oggetto") 42 pages in all, 4to (overall size c.35 x 21.5cm), the vocal items with later, old, catalogue numbers in manuscript ("411...403...404...409...410..."), all but one item trimmed by the binder, late C18th or early C19th marbled boards, manuscript label to upper cover ("Aus der Andromeda von Reichardt"), no place or date [Berlin, 1788 or later]; together with an unbound type-set print of the 3/8 movement from the 'Opferscene', the two gavottes and a 'Tambourin', 4 pages (numbered 9-12), collective title at foot of first page ("Claviersachen von Verschied. zu Mel. u. Harm."), no place or date An intriguing volume of manuscripts relating to J.F. Reichardt's opera Andromeda, premiered in Berlin on 11 January 1788. Formerly in the collection of Ernst Rudorff (1840-1916), whose mother, Betty Pistor, was a granddaughter of Reichardt. The indications of price on the vocal numbers is characteristic of items from the shop of the Berlin music dealer Johann Carl Friedrich Rellstab.
