James Justinian Morier (c.1780-1849) A Journey through Persia, Armenia and Asia Minor to Constantinople in the years 1808 and 1809 , London: for Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown, 1812. 4° (289 x 235mm.). 3 maps and 26 uncoloured aquatint plates. (Maps with a few short tears, occasional light spotting and offsetting). Contemporary mottled calf (covers detached, rubbed and scuffed). Provenance : Kimbolton Castle (bookplate). FIRST EDITION. Abbey Travel 358: "The engravings are of good quality but there appears to be no reference in the book to the engraver." Jonas Hanway (1712-1786). An Historical Account of the British Trade over the Caspian Sea , London: For T. Osborne, D. Brown & others, 1754. 2 volumes, 4° (259 x 206mm.). 2 engraved frontispieces, 9 maps and 17 engraved plates. (A few minor tears or frayed fore-edges, some ink marginalia, occasional mainly light spotting and browning). Contemporary calf (covers detached, rubbed with losses). Second edition. Kress 5357. With another copy of the above work in 2 vols. bound in modern morocco-backed roan. (5)
