[Japan: 1940-45.] A standard Type 92 Japanese military Field phone, with separata metal ear and mouth pieces, and winding crank, drop down front panel, and hinged lid, the phone encased in a wooden box, the inside of the lid with instructions in Japanese, metal label on the front panel with makers name and numbered 46657. A few knocks through use. 180 x 270 x 110 mm. (7 x 11 x 4.5 inches.): Together with a soldier's small Japanese national flag. 210 x 330 mm. (8 x 13 inches.), the flag mounted on a metal extending pole, height 415 mm. Flag lightly stained, metal rod slightly oxidized, the flag with its original green rayon bag. The Type 92 was the standard Japanese field phone used to communicate in a battlefield situation, from HQ direct to forces in the field, providing the communications lines had been laid. Some examples have a leather carrying case, but this one, without such a case, is probably for HQ use
