A group of humorous stories set in Cleveland in the mid-60s including the titular "Don the Burp," about a man with an odd fetish: "There was this guy on the west side of Cleveland who used to pay young men to come over to his apartment and burp into a tape recorder"--from the cover. Flannigan was a friend of cartoonist Harvey Pekar. In 1979, he showed Pekar's early comic book work to the editors of The Village Voice.Their review introduced the underground writer to a wider audience in New York.
