JOE DIMAGGIO 1940’s H&B PROFESSIONAL MODEL BAT w/ LOA From Phil Rizzuto Often described as a "picture player" Joe DiMaggio epitomized grace on the baseball diamond-- both at bat and in center field. Many rate his 56-consecutive-game hitting streak in 1941 as the top baseball record of all time. "The Yankee Clipper" used an unusually wide stance in winning two batting championships and three MVP awards. In 13 seasons he amassed 361 homers, averaged 118 RBI annually and compiled a .325 lifetime batting mark. At baseball's 1969 centennial celebration, he was named the game's Greatest Living Player. This 35 ½", 36 oz model D29L bat is documented by factory records as having been produced specifically for DiMaggio's use during the mid to late 1940's, when the gallant Yankees hero reigned supreme among baseball's biggest stars. It exhibits signs of heavy use including numerous ball marks, cleat marks and rack marks. The bat remains uncracked with the handle showing atypical remnants of pine tar. This fine DiMaggio gamer has excellent display quality in addition to ideal provenance having originated from the personal collection of DiMaggio's teammate and fellow Hall of Famer Phil Rizzuto. LOAs from MEARS (A9) and Phil Rizzuto.
