Beschreibung:

DES VOLLKOMMENEN TEUTSCHEN JÄGERS ANDERER HAUPT-THEIL
Description period: 1724; Germany, Leipzig Leipzig, Johann Christian Martini, 1724 (two books in one volume) Folio: 34.5 × 22.5 × 5.5 cm Modern fine parchment binding, signed and dated. The first volume of this voluminous compendium of hunting is dedicated to geological, geomorphologic, climatological and meteorological conditions on Earth, the study of rocks and minerals, and botanical disciplines – especially for use in forestry. It describes forests as a whole – trees and other plants, the life of animals and birds. It particularly focuses on forestry from the perspective of land owners and hunters, and provides new technical and economic findings in animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, forestry and related subjects. The second volume is a calendar of crop and livestock farming and hunting, describing the chronology of these activities over the course of the year, the times of year and the hunting season. The book also explains stewardship and veterinary measures for caring for forests, game, birds, fish, etc. One of the most expansive books on this subject from the Baroque period, it is decorated with tens of large-format full-page and two-page copper engraved plates, text woodcuts and vignettes that very authentically and decoratively, though sometimes curiously, illustrate the text. The title page is printed in two colors. Tanned paper in places. Condition: The entire book is in very good preserved condition.
