Voluptuosa / Tango [created for Josephine Baker]. Sheet Music, with lyrics in Spanish. 4pp. Color pictorial cover with photo of Baker and drawing of her by Roger de Valerio. Composed by Spanish pianist Jose Padilla Sanchez for African-American entertainer Josephine Baker (1906-1975), whose semi-nude erotic dancing and singing at the Folies Bergere in Paris made her a European sensation at age 20. A rare musical imprint which never appeared in America, with striking art by Valerio, who later produced classic Art Deco posters for Air France and Cherry Maurice Chevalier. Paris, 1928. * Folies Bergere 1937 En Super Folies. Program for the Paris stage extravaganza starring Baker, by then world-famous. Original textured wrappers, gilt lettering and a gilt bordered star in center of upper wrapper cut out to reveal a portion of a tipped-in color portrait of Baker in the nude, from a painting by Domergue. 30pp. 50 photos, many of Baker.
