Josephus (Flavius) Opera omnia Graece et Latine…, vol. 1 only, engraved allegorical frontispiece by Philip a. Gunst, title in red and black with woodcut floral device, 2 full-page plates depicting coins, 1 in-text illustration, woodcut initials and ornaments, text partly in Greek, light age yellowing, occasional spotting, minor tearing to a couple of leaves, ownership annotations to front flyleaf and title, stamp, modern quarter black morocco, new endpapers, folio, Wetstein et al., Amsterdam & Leiden, 1726. ***Revised edition by the Leiden prof. S. Haverkamp (1684-1742) of the Latin version by Hudson of the standard ancient history of the Jews by Flavius Josephus. Provenance. Gulielmum van Bijlert, to whom the book is offered by the headmaster Jacob Henrichus Dreux and other teachers of the academic institution in 1771, as a recognition award of his excellent commitment to study.
