Fischteller sind eine Sonderform der antiken im rotfigurigen Stil bemalten Teller. Motive sind stets Fische oder anderes Meeresgetier, meist in äußerst naturalistischer Ausführung. Charakteristisch für die Arbeiten des Robinson-Malers gelten die abstehenden Brustflossen und weiß untermalten Augen der Brassen sowie der stets weiß konturierte Zitterrochen.

Campanian red-figured fish-plate of the Robinson painter group
Circa 350 - 320 BC. Pottery, painted in black and white. Pedestal, slightly concave plate with central indentation and convex rim. Decorated with one torpedo fish and two breams in counterclockwise direction. Rubbed, slightly chipped.

Fish plates are a special form of antique plates painted in red figure style. The motifs are always fish or other sea creatures, mostly in an extremely naturalistic design. Characteristic for the works of the Robinson Painter are the protruding pectoral fins and the white contoured eyes of the breams as well as the always white contoured torpedo fish.
