KENNEDY, JACQUELINE as FIRST LADY Fine autograph letter signed to Oleg Cassini regarding her State Visit to France. Washington: [ circa 25 May 1961, date from postmark]. Four page autograph letter in blue ink signed "Jackie", written on the recto and verso of two pages of "The White House" stationery. 7 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches. Accompanied by original mailing envelope addressed in Mrs. Kennedy's hand. Rust mark from paperclip on verso of second sheet touching a few letters, usual fold, else fine . "Dear Oleg-Just a note in the midst of packing all your clothes for Paris! They have really been prettier than I ever dreamed clothes could be & never a tiny alteration needed..." Mrs. Kennedy continues to describe how well Cassini has handled recent press and is quite pleased with the "little system" they have in place to handle her orders. Fashion wise, the official visit to Paris was a major undertaking for Mrs. Kennedy who reports "I had to go to Chez Ninon as this trip is a two weeks one for me - official things in Paris Vienna & Greece ... I do hope you'll be here when I get back - we can play Never on Sunday... and I don't mind if Charlene or anyone has the same dresses - but just don't let them wear them before I do."
