KENNEDY, John Fitzgerald]. KENNEDY, John F. Typed manuscript, with extensive autograph corrections, revisions and notes, an introduction to the writings of Holmes Alexander, 22 May 1958. 1¼ pages, 4to, with carbon copy . KENNEDY AS A SENATE COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN. As Chairman of a senate committee which selected five senators to be memorialized with portraits to be placed in the Senate Reception Room, Kennedy writes in praise of Holmes Alexander, who had written short biographies of each man. Kennedy notes: "He has brought to the task - a long experience as a contemporary commentator on the Senate and national affairs - and wide knowledge of the Senate's role in American history - and he has succeeded." Kennedy has written several pen corrections on the original and has crossed out a final paragraph that he did not include in the final copy. -- KENNEDY, John F. Autograph note, n.p., n.d. 50 words, 1 page, 8vo. KENNEDY COMPROMISES WHILE CAMPAIGNING IN THE PRIMARY. A brief partial note, probably written during the Democratic primary of 1960, in which Kennedy half-heartedly concedes to party wishes. He writes, "...split by a contended primary. For this reason and for this only, I have determined [Kennedy has crossed out 'decided'] to accede to their wishes and shall not contend the primary election there. However, if another candidate other than (?) and Mr. (?) should enter I shall [Kennedy has crossed out will] feel obliged to enter also." Together two items. (2)
