'KINGFISHER' A Dunhill Namiki fountain pen 2008 Edition 19/25 Master Seiki Chida (Japan) Exquisitely decorated in bright colors and gold over a speckled gold and mother of pearl ground, the cap with a female kingfisher perched by a river amongst nadeshiko blooms, the barrel with a male kingfisher presenting his catch; signed and sealed in Japanese; gold nib marked dunhill NAMIKI 18K-750. The decoration of this pen is inspired by the mating rituals of the noble Kingfisher bird celebrated by ancient Japanese haiku poems. The mating ritual of the Kingfisher involves the male hunting for fish and presenting his catch to his potential mate. The slender stemmed flowers with fringed pink blooms that surround birds are Nadeshiko flowers which symbolize deep love. These plants bloom along riverbeds during the summer whilst the Kingfishers are courting. Pen comes complete with lacquered display box, eyedropper, and all original packaging and certificate.
