Krug 1996 Krug 1996 Champagne Lots 51-53: Packed in individual presentation cases, Lot 54: Packed in individual wooden presentation cases 17 different growths. Pinot Noir 48%, Pinot Meunier 21%, Chardonnay 31%. In 2012, a wonderful nose of mandarin orange zests, with a touch of melon - un grand depart! So 'winey' on the palate, with great vinosity and shape. This is monumental Krug and, incidentally, the last year when Paul Krug was part of the tasting team - this pays a last tribute to him. Seamless fruit. I wonder whether it has some similarity with the legendary 1928 at the same age - we can only surmise, but it would be logical given the structure. Keep on checking! SS. The Winter was rainy with massive frosts on the 20th and 22nd of February. March and April were sunny and dry with some frosts at night. May was rainy followed by a mild Summer. September was very dry and sunny with cool nights leading to perfect conditions. Flowering was on the 19th of June and harvest began on the 20th of September. Production was an average of 10400 kg per hectare with alcoholic content of 9.7 degrees and acidity of 12.3 grams per liter. Lot 51 12 bts (2 oc) Lot 52 12 bts (2 oc) per lot: USD 4500-6500 Quantity: 1
