Kuro-nuri nimai-do gusoku (armor) Momoyama-Edo period (16th-17th century) The kabuto (helmet) comprising a black-lacquered iron twelve-plate sujibachi (ridged bowl), four-tier hachimanza (decorative surround to the aperture in the crown) of gilt and shakudo chrysanthemum surrounds, gilt agamaki-no-kan (ring for tassel) to rear, mabisashi (brim) with four rivets and integral maedate (forecrest), and additional maedate (forecrest) of a single high leaf of gilt wood, four-tier black-lacquered Iyo itazane (single band) shikoro (neck guard) with small fukigaeshi (turnbacks) with Sakakibara Genji kuruma mon (badge) in shibuichi , black-lacquered iron menpo (face mask) with detachable nose and upper lip, silvered teeth, yodarekake (bib) of two tiers of hon-kozane (individual laced scales) with purple lacing and white hishinui (cross-knots) with central mon , a two-tier nodowa (gorget), the nimai-do (hinged cuirass) of black-lacquered Iyo itazane (bands simulating rows of individual scales), tateage (separate upper frontal plate) laced to munaita (upper breast section), bracket for sashimono (banner) to rear, with kohire (minor shoulder pieces) with mon , matching seven-tasseted kusazuri (skirt) of five tiers, seven-tier itazane sode (shoulder guards), the kanmuri-ita (upper upright plates) clad in leather with red and black-lacquered leafy patterns, all hasso kanamono (decorative metal strips) of shakudo with scrolling, ko-shinogote (sleeves) and haidate (thigh guards) matching and all mounted on checked textile, the katabira (under mail-garment) of jacket, trousers, and hooded headgear, accompanied with a document dated in accordance with 1968 referring to the repair of a katabira in 1863, the acquisition of a jingasa (war-hat) in 1838, the later repair of its bag, and the subsequent storage of the items, with its lacquered wood boxes
