Profusely illustrated with black-and-white drawings and photographs. A lavish production, spanning the early history of aviation, from balloons to the first attempted flying machines. Probably published weeks before the historic flight at Kitty Hawk, mentioning Langley but not the Wright brothers – and with the final chapter concerning the latest dirigible balloons rather than pioneering airplanes. Lot Amendments Condition: Tear on one page, repaired with archival tape; very good. Item number: 276189a
