Guigard states that the collection of Laleu, "secrétaire du Roi, maison et couronne de France" (Olivier), was rightfully considered to be one of the richest of its time; a large number of the volumes came from the Hoym, Rothelin and Pompadour collections. Built up over half a century, it numbered 6,000 volumes. The volumes from the Elzevir Press, listed in a special index at end, amounted to 178. The catalogue is very well compiled, with its "Table" and, in the preliminaries, a concordance of the lots with the numbers in De Bure's Bibliographie Instructive . "Dans le Catal.
