LANDSAT SATELLITE – Seven photographs, c. 1980s. A collection of Landsat views of the world, including major cities such as Boston, New York, with Paris photographed in multiple wavelengths . Further details on the contents of this lot: 1) Boston from space - some 200 years after the American revolution. The Mystic, Chelsea, and Charles Rivers combine to clearly define the shapes of downtown Boston - Charlestown, Cambridge, and Somerville. Logan Airport’s multiple runways are clearly visible as well as surrounding river bridges. Lexington and Concord, sites of the first battles with British forces in April 1775, are located northwest of Boston. The site of the battle of Bunker Hill (and Breeds Hill) in June 1775, are just north of Boston and Charlestown. A Thematic Mapper infrared band makes all area vegetation appear red with the low reflectance water bodies appearing black. Large color photograph, 20 inches square.
