Öl/Lwd. 69 x 55 cm. - Lanino war Schüler von Gaudenzio Ferrari dem bedeutendsten Maler in Vercelli. Später war er vorwiegend in Mailand tätig, wo er von den Werken Leonardo da Vincis beeinflusst wurde, und schuf dort zahlreiche Altarbilder und Fresken. Das vorliegende Motiv gibt es in mehreren Variationen mit alternierendem Ausblick und wurde vielleicht schon in der Werkstatt des Gaudenzio Ferrari erarbeitet. // Lanino (Lanini), Bernardino - attributed to — Mary with the infant Jesus and the young John (Mortara c. 1512-ca. 1581/83 Vercelli) Half-length figure of the Virgin Mary with the sleeping infant Jesus on her lap, from lower right the boy John shows the lamb, left around background a window view of a hilly river landscape. Later he worked mainly in Milan, where he was influenced by the works of Leonardo da Vinci and created numerous altarpieces and frescos there. The present motif exists in several variations with alternating views and was perhaps already worked out in the workshop of Gaudenzio Ferrari
