Title: Large archive of professional and customer correspondence and miscellaneous materials from the files of the Lord John Press Author: Place: Northridge, CA Publisher: Date: Various dates Description: Approximately eight file boxes, largely containing the correspondence files of the press. Appears to be largely correspondence with customers, suppliers, booksellers, etc., rather than correspondence with authors, but there may be some material that crosses over. A large number of miscellaneous items from the archives of the press are included as well. A highlight is an envelope of photographic prints from original negatives by Eudora Welty, used for her book, "In Black and White." The prints have handwritten comments and corrections by Welty on the versos. Also, a large number of greeting cards received by the publisher from friends and fans. Included as well are page proofs and other files from the "Lord John Film Festival" and other various printed leaves, unbound sheets, etc., from various LJP works by authors including William Gibson John Updike, Dan Simmons and a number of others, as well as some typewritten manuscripts for some forewords and introductions, etc. Unsorted and not thoroughly examined, well worthy of further scholarship. Herb Yellin's Lord John Press was considered by many to be one of the most important small presses of the 20th century. Yellin maintained close personal relationships with many of his writers, which resulted in a number of unique, collectible, signed limited edition books by some of modern literature's biggest names, including Stephen King Ray Bradbury, John Updike, Eudora Welty, and Joyce Carol Oates among many others. Due to the size and/or weight of this lot extra shipping and/or handling charges may apply. Lot Amendments Condition: Varying wear, but overall very good and better. Item number: 285284
