Seven Pillars of Wisdom, [London: privately printed], 1926. 4 (251 x 190mm.), printed in red and black, 66 plates, many coloured or tinted, a few double-page, by Eric Kennington William Roberts Augustus John William Nicholson Paul Nash and others, 4 folding coloured lithographed maps, illustrations, one full-page, by Roberts, Nash, Kennington, Blair Hughes-Stanton, Gertrude Hermes and others, initials by Edward Wadsworth 4-page pamphlet 'Some Notes on the Writing of the Seven Pillars by T. E. Shaw' loosely-inserted (very light staining to a few margins), contemporary dark blue crushed morocco, spine lettered in gilt with raised bands (joints cracked and rubbed, a few light scuff marks), pictorial endpapers by Eric Kennington t.e.g. FIRST EDITION, LIMITED TO ABOUT 170 'COMPLETE' COPIES, inscribed by the author on p.XIX 'Complete Copy I.XII.26 T.E.S.' with a further amendment to the list of illustrations ('Roberts' scored through and replaced with 'K[ennington]'), armorial bookplate of William Ewart Berry, Baron Camrose. Clements p.49. A fine copy of the privately-printed edition of Lawrence's masterpiece. As usual, the present copy includes the 'Prickly Pear' plate which is not required by Lawrence's own list of illustrations, but does not include the two Paul Nash illustrations called for on pp.92 and 208, nor the Blair Hughes-Stanton wood-engraving that, in some copies, illustrates the dedicatory poem.
