The folding map is the key to the 50 maps in this atlas. 'G. L. Le Rouge specialized more on atlases of plans and fortifications. He was educated as a military engineer' (Tooley) and published the French editions of many important American maps from the 1740s, notably that of the Folger-Franklin hydrographic chart of the Gulf Stream.
