Leaf from a very large Calendar, manuscript in Latin on parchment [Germany (probably northern Bavaria), c. 1500] Single large bifolium, reused on the binding of a ‘Diarum Historicum: Darinnen dess heyligen Reichs Statt Franckfurt am Mayn’ (Frankfurt, 1615), with entries in a late gothic bookhand, initials and rubrics in red, ex libris of Johannes Richier dated 1677 inside printed book, discolouration to leaf in places and title of later book on spine in ink, leaf split at edges of spine, overall fair, total visible 385 by 290mm. This was once part of a startlingly large service book, perhaps produced on a grand scale for public reading. The presence of SS. Wilibald (bishop of Eichstätt, Bavaria, d. c.787) and Kilian (Irish missionary bishop, Apostle of Franconia, d. 640, relics in Würzberg) suggest an origin within Franconia in northern Bavaria.
