ЛЕФ) LEF) Periodical of the "Left Front of the Arts", issue no. 2, Moscow-Petrograd, April-May 1923. Russian. Second issue of the literary periodical issued by "Left Front of the Arts", edited by the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. Cover design by Alexander Mikhailovich Rodchenko. On pp. 66-67 appear additional works done by Rodchenko (logos for airlines) as well as works done by his wife, the artist Varvara Stepanova such as sportswear design. "Left Front of the Arts" was a society of artists active in the USSR during the 1920s. Headed by Vladimir Mayakovsky along with artists and intellectuals of the constructivist and futuristic movements in the USSR. The periodical LEF was published during the years 1923-1925. In 1927 it changed its title to Novy LEF ("New Left Front of the Arts") and continued to exist till 1929 (See "Kedem" catalogue no. 7, item 283).
