A group of four legal manuscripts, Scotland and northern England, 17th Century, comprising: 'Practiques and decisiones of the Lords of sessione observed & Collected Be Sir George Auchinleck of Ballmanno Knight one of the ordinarie Lords of the College of Justice from the yeir of our Lord 1626, to the yere 1636', ownership inscriptions of William Thomson writer, 1659, index and 136 leaves, folio (minor soiling and wear), contemporary limp vellum (worn); another collection of decisions of the court of session from 4 November 1609 - 30 July 1623, 228 pages, folio , BOOK PLATE OF HENRY HOME, LORD KAMES (1696-1782), presentation inscription to William Borland, 1882, label of John Girvan, sheep-backed boards (worn); Sir Robert Spottiswoode. 'Practicks of the Law of Scotland', index and 406 pages, folio , later sheep binding, with 20th C ownership stamp of the Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow, letter of presentation to them in 1918; cartulary of the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne from 1485 to 1604, with supplementary legal and miscellaneous material, 186 leaves, 4to , some blanks, disbound, cloth-covered box.
