Letter of approbation for book, with lengthy Halachic response, in handwriting and signature of the Ga’on Rabbi Shalom Mashash. Jerusalem, (1995). In the response, the author presents various Halachic rulings and mentions Moroccan customs. (For example: in laws prohibiting haircuts before Tisha B’Av he states that majority of scholars of Morocco were stringent not to get haircuts from 17th of Tamuz, and I follow their opinion, however also simple people were meticulous not to get haircuts from month of Av, as with eating meat. And on Rosh Chodesh we would eat meat in the meal before sunset). Rabbi Shalom Mashash (1909-2003), among leading Dayanim and rabbinical authorities of his generation. From 1955 served as Chief Rabbi and Av Beit Din of Casablanca, Morocco. In 1976 immigrated to Holy City of Jerusalem to serve as Chief Rabbi and chief Av Beit Din. Composed many books in Halacha and Aggada: “Mizrach Shemesh”, “Beit Shemesh”, “VeCham HaShemesh”, “Tevu’ot HaShemesh Responsa”, “Shemesh U’Magen Responsa” and more. Four leaves, 28 cm. Very good condition.
