LIEUT.-COLONEL HENRY HOPE CREALOCK Sketches of the Campaign in India. London: T.Bretell for J.Hogarth, 1861. Large 2° (714 x 517mm). Title and 10pp. of text. 36 mounted albumen-prints of sketches by Crealock, on 25 leaves, each photograph numbered and inscribed on the mounts in pencil, 7 overpainted in colours, one partially coloured. (First and last mount spotted, title and text leaves with vertical crease, the title and first leaf of text with tears at the crease, pp.5-6 torn in half horizontally.) Contemporary red morocco, elaborately tooled in gilt and blind, titled in gilt on upper cover, gilt turn-ins, g.e. (extremities scuffed); together with an accompanying printed pamphlet, Sketches in India , 1861. A rare set of illustrations of the campaign in India in 1858 under the command of Sir Colin Campbell The series ends with three sketches made during Crealock's return trip to England. (2)
