(8½x5¼"), original gilt-decorated cloth, top edges gilt. First Edition. Account of significant researches by Charles Piazzi Smyth (1819-1900), Astronomer Royal for Scotland from 1846 to 1888, well known for many innovations in astronomy as well as for his pyramidological and metrological studies of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Lot Amendments Condition: Spines faded, joints and ends rubbed, cloth split along rear joing of Vol. III; some hinges cracking, traces from removed bookplates, a few leaves in Vol. III loose; very good overall, rare in the original cloth.
