LILLY, William (1602-1681)]. Catastrophe Mundi: or, Merlin Reviv'd, in a Discourse of Prophecies & Predictions . London: John How and Thomas Malthus, 1683. 8 o (146 x 92 mm). 17 full-page woodcuts. (Some pagination shaved at top margins , one line of text shaved, two marginal chips). Contemporary English sprinkled calf (joints cracked). Provenance : Hamilton Palace Library; acquired from Goodspeed's Book Shop, 1982. FIRST EDITION. Appears to lack D1 within the illustrated section, and there is a pagination error from E1 (p. 59) to end, but the total plate count is complete with 17 woodcuts, and text appears complete. A note in AV's hand states this copy collates same as the Harvard copy, the one used in the National Union Catalogue. VERY RARE: according to American Book Prices Current only two copies (one lacking some plates) have appeared at auction over the last forty years. Wing L-2214.
