Allow me to thank you for the information it communicates; and also the Clubs mentioned, for the good work they are doing..." Not in Collected Works, ed. R.P. Basler and apparently unpublished. Lincoln had accepted the Republican nomination for President on May 23. Soon the letters from his admirers and supporters became so numerous he enlisted first Mary then John Nicolay to write letters of this type.
