LINCOLN, ABRAHAM, President . MATTHEW BRADY, Publisher . Carte-de-visite photograph signed ("A. Lincoln"), n.p., n.d. 101 x 61 mm. (4 x 2 7/16 in.) including mount, gold-ruled borders, imprint of "Brady...Washington," signature very slightly smudged (probably by Lincoln himself) and image with two almost imperceptible slanting scratches in top blank area, otherwise in good condition. A vignette form of the well-known portrait, taken by Anthony Berger of Brady's studio in Washington on Tuesday 9 February 1864. Signed by Lincoln in the blank lower portion of the photograph. A note on the back (beneath Brady's imprint) records that the photograph was "Contributed by Mr. Lincoln for the benefit of the S[oldiers] A[id] So[ciety] of Westford, Mass., at their Levee, December 14 1864."
